What a friend we have in Jesus

    It's a very very famous church song since 1868. I beileve Arthur and Vincent would sing it many times every year, because both of them are Christian.

    One day, Jose said, "Do you know there is a golden rule in our society?"

    I said "What?"

    Jose said "TLC".

    I immediatly bursted into laughter, every Chinese knows what TCL is, right?

    Jose said "Well, TLC means Tender Loving Care. That is one of the golden rules in our society."

    I repeated it, "Tender Loving Care."

    Jose said "Yes!" Then he asked me, "Do your people smile to you when they see you on the streets?"

    I said "Smile to me? What ?!  Why?! Strange!"

    Jose said, "Well, here we smile a lot on the streets, almost to everybody."

    Again I asked "Why?"

    Jose said "Because we are generally happy, hence we smile naturally. What a question?"

    I asked "Even to strangers on the streets?"

    Jose said "Yes, to strangers on the streets and especially to somebody like you because you are a beautiful young lady. Everybody would smile to you. "

    I said "It is quite different here. It seems difficult for people to smile to the others they don't know."

    Jose said "Sad… "

    So sometimes I feel that there should be some room for idealism and hedonism in our lives. Maybe believing in Jesus helps people in the  western society to smile a lot?
